Here’s What Travelers Are Saying About Cinque Terre

Some 2.5 million visitors go for the Unesco-listed Cinque Terre every year. The Cinque Terre are ancient fishing villages, located along the rugged Italian coast. Each of these villages is characterized by colorful houses and vineyards clinging to the steep terraces created on the coast. We are always asked from our international travelers why the Cinque Terre landscape has been preserved so well? Given the high slope of this territory, to make them suitable for the main cultivation of vines and olive trees, over the centuries man has modeled it, building the famous terraces on the slopes to the sea, which made it thus one of the most characteristic and fascinating landscapes of Liguria. Thanks to their position on the sea, the thousand colors and the perfect integration with the natural landscape, the Cinque Terre are a place that must be visited at least once in a lifetime! Running from north to south the villages are Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. Each one of the five is a beauty, with pastel buildings tumbling down the hillsides and sparkling sea views, but each has its own different character. The village our travellers like the most is the romantic Corniglia, the central and smallest village of the Cinque Terre, very easy to explore. It is unique compared to the other villages because it was built on top of a rock 100 meters above the sea, which is why it is known as the “Balcony of the Cinque Terre”. Easy reachable by train or by car, from La Spezia is takes about 40 minutes, with terrific views of the sea, a memorable experience. Corniglia, due to its perched position, is definitely the village that offers the most spectacular panorama, it’s literally Love at first sight as we are said from our international guests !
